Evangelists in Orissa: Converting against all odds

Orissa: VHP turns violent and burns Churches. Hmm! ok. There is a history to Orissa-Christianity-Tribals. "The VHP launched its violent onslaught claiming it wants to stop conversions to Christianity, accusing Churches of proselytising." - AsiaNews.IT (Fact file of conversions happening since 200 years among Tribals of Orissa is given below) So they mean there were no conversion attempts? Is it a false claim by VHP? They DO NOT Convert Hindus and Tribals to Christianity? What other agenda do their missionaries have? On Christmas Day it (VHP) celebrated for instance the “return” (barbaratan or ‘coming home’) to Hinduism of 82 families or 187 Christians, 103 men and 84 women, at a ceremony in the village of Chikita in Sundergarth District (Orissa) that included receiving images of Hindu divinities. 82 families or 187 Christians were Hindus earlier! They accept that fact don't they? Now the same converts are willingly coming back to Hindu fold. Why? Why couldn't they hav...

London Queen for Indian KinderGarten Kids!

Indian children learn English History, English Values, England Queen and London Bridge right from Kindergarten. All our poems, literature for the kids are derived or modified from English literatures. Every character in the story is English. This has not changed ever since the British nailed into our great grandfathers' brains that whatever is English is high above anything Indian. Those veterans still hold the Britishers in high esteem for their governance and education. I feel ashamed when my grandfather feels so. I feel ashamed that we are not proud of whatever we are. I have hated to have learned about the British Queen and London Bridge in my school poems ever since I started to love my country. But that love did not come from this education. It came from my upbringing and from being associated with various groups at an young age. I should talk about myself here only to believe that there are millions of Indians who have also felt the same but are as helpless as I am now. But ...

The Truth that is....

For you and me, the Hindu way of life (it was never a religion) existed even longer than 10 thousand years before Christ was even created. Any other man made religion of the world can only be a segment of Hindu philosophy since to fathom the vastness and depth of Hindu philosophy it would take every other religion to first master their own first. When that cannot happen, none of them can ever even compare Hindu to any other religion, simply because of its practical truths (not what God supposed to have "said" as in case of Mohammad or Christ) are derived directly from the life of humans, wealth of the universe, metaphysical dimensions of the world and beyond. And still, Hindu philosophy is not about GOD its about the Mystery of this Universe we live in and how us humans relate and blend with it. So, I read these articles, one forwarded by a good friend of mine, and I read further into the New Advent of Christianity. Now do not laugh reading this: The pessimism of Schopenha...

Target: Hindu

Targeting Hindus had started several centuries ago. Despite this psychological illegal attempts to disseminate Hindu, it has not been possible for any of them to do so. It is a natural character of Hindu to revive and protect itself in various forms from any kind of onslaughts. In 1871, the Anglican diocese in Georgetown gave this explanation of the difficulty in converting the Indian population: "He (the Indian) has more pride of race; he has a keener intellect and has that pride of country and of race which prevents him from becoming a convert to any of the new doctrines preached to him." [Asian’s youth are feeling the consequences of today’s globalised world, they are in the midst of an identity crises and they risk becoming slaves to materialism and a system where values have been overturned; it is the Churches duty to help them understand the meaning of Christ’s Sacrifice and Resurrection, this discovery alone can give true meaning to t...

Understanding Modern and Abstract art

Image
I hadn't even given a second look at those. It was painful to me to gather up all my intuitions, imaginations, logics to understand the artist's mind. Nothing in the real world I could relate to. I know this is the same for many others. How many times we would have wanted the artist to explain us what he painted? But thinking of it, if the art was straight forward, a scenery or a building, would we really bother to study more on the painting? I doubt we would. Many a time, I have thought, the artist could rather just take a photograph of what he has painted, from the real world instead of studiously painting it!! Guess it doesn't work that way. There is more to it. To a person with no artistic intellect, like me, these abstract art would just turn some remote senses wild and restless...... wait.... restless? wild? ....yeah sometimes ... indifferent too... or may sometimes mind goes blank unable to understand what my eyes are looking at ...makes me feel stupid..."Why a...

ONLY the aftermath of Godhra....

Image
The Indian citizens are supposed to know ONLY the aftermath of Godhra incidence of burning 1000s of children and women pilgrims. You are NOT supposed to question anything about the people who burnt the train!! You must NOT bother about who were behind the burning! What happened to the culprits? DO NOT ASK Are you done? Ok. Go and read ONLY about what happened next. Even if YOU were a victim in this carnage, if your brother or sister or daughter got burnt in the train, do not get enraged. Be calm. Take it cool. Because the killers are noble people! Pardon them. But DO NOT dare to ask justice! Let the killers live in peace for Peace Be With Allah ! This link is added here on Nov 12, 2007 CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat explains "What really happened in Nandigram" !! He cleverly tries to insulates his government's (mis)rule from the incident. But his party has never allowed BJP or Sangh or even the Courts to explain the Godhra. They never even tried to get CBI to inquir...

Center seeks RSS intervention (help)

Times Now reported on the TV and its internet version that " Centre seeks RSS help ." But the way such news gets reported is to be observed...(this is from the internet version dated 2nd Nov 2007 6:24:46 PM ) " TIMES NOW has accessed a letter written by a senior Archaeological Survey of India official to RSS national President K S Sudarshan calling upon him to put a stop to illegal mining activity in a few districts of Madhya Pradesh." Doesn't it sound like ASI thinks RSS is involved in someway with the illegal mining activity? Watch the words the media uses.... and the ignorants always see what they like to see. On the TV they clearly reported as "Centre seeks RSS help...to intervene in stopping illegal mining activity....". ASI has sought help from RSS. But the news as reported can create wrong information to a careless reader. This is not one piece of article, you get to read it everyday on everything RSS or the Sangh parivar does. So, if you are ...

Narendra Modi's Charisma

First, listen to his speech convened by Hindustan Times (not a Sangh/BJP supporter) and initiated by none other than the hardcore sangh parivar hater Rajdeep Sardesai. I am personally very inspired by the nature of speech Modi has delivered in this context. A Manmohan or Sonia can never talk from the heart, bundled with the true patriotism, after all, MM speeches are written by Sonia and Sonia's speeches translated to Italian from Hindi by unknown 100s. I didn't want to be blind to whatever Modi says, so I did research on all claims he makes in the speech. Hence for a good value reading, I tried to attach links to the facts alongwith. For all the skeptics, I have made sure the source of information does not belong to Sangh Parivar. About drought in Gujarat and Rajasthan His first day in office: Attending to Drought Modi's Achievements President praises Gujarat and offers his Urban Development model for state Gujarat conceives 'dam with difference' Fact file from Isr...
High Resolution Photos of Art Visit the site soon for "Last Supper" image. [A high-resolution image of Da Vinci's "Last Supper" will soon be posted on the Internet by an Italian technology firm, allowing art lovers and conspiracy theorists alike to scrutinise it from their own computers. The digital imaging firm, called HAL9000 after the killer computer in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey", will post the 16-17 giga pixel image on its Web site (www.haltadefinizione.com) on Saturday (Oct 27, 2007) HAL9000 General Manager Vincenzo Mirarchi told Reuters on Thursday the reason behind the firm's decision to post the image on its Web site was to provide an innovative way to appreciate art rather than encourage speculation about its meaning. "This will make it easier for people to see it," he said, referring to the difficulties of arranging a visit to the hall where the mural is located.] Above Text from Yahoo!News

Why are we proud of ......

Image
...achievements of Indians outside India? Last night I watched the news clipping on Piyush “Bobby” Jindal becoming of Governor of Louisiana, USA. His cousins and relatives were extremely happy...they danced crazily in their house in India. Everyone of them exclaimed that he makes Indians proud!!! I always wonder how these people really do that!!??? I read more of him on the internet. I find... His article in a Catholics web issue Piyush "Bobby" Jindal Religious lies He being attached in a TV interview How Indian is he? What is his lifetime contribution to India or Indians? How much does he know indepth of his own State in India as much he knows about Louisiana, accepted that he was born there. But him becoming a Governor of a State in the US makes Indians proud???? I am equally surprised at how Kalpana Chawla or Sunita Lyn Williams are anyway Indians at heart? Sunita had hardly visited India in her lifetime, Kalpana did only once or twice. We are proud of these???? I feel w...

Helping the destitutes ....

Image
I just watched this news about a noble heart in Madurai on a TV channel. Quickly I wanted to put the information over here. He is a food provider, N. Krishnan, a graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Science, who has taken upon himself the mission of feeding abandoned people - mentally unstable ones and destitutes. We have such people doing great service to mankind and animals, behind the scene. But services like that of Krishnan should be made known to the world simply because they awaken our sleeping minds into the realities. Great work Krishnan :) Visit other link here

Into the Black Hole somewhere in India there goes .....

"India tops in remittances from migrants WASHINGTON: With Indians at the top, migrants working in industrialised countries sent home more than $300 billion in 2006, nearly three times the $104 billion given in foreign aid to developing countries. India with $24.5 billion took in more remittance than any other nation. It was followed by Mexico ($24.2 billion), China ($21 billion), the Philippines ($14.6 billion) and Russia ($13.7 billion), according to a new UN study." says DNA Ok!!!! Great!! But where the hell is all these money? Locked up with individuals? RBI? Laaloo? or Sonia's family trust? or to some religion funding? arrey obviously every million would show up somewhere if it was really used for good of the country....

Filth with Flowers

Image
Every year on the Indian Independence day (Aug 15,) the horticultural department of Karnataka organises mammoth flower and plants exhibition in Lalbagh. This year, I reluctantly went with my family as I knew it wouldnt be easy to get in and come out. Such a lovely garden turns into dustbin in just two or three days of this show. How much ever the department and security tries to control the crowd. Its the people's mindset that goes on rampage and has absolutely no care for the nature. But ironically they all come to watch the beautiful nature! I was more concerned with the destructions of this place and captured some of the pathetic state in the garden. Luring a Hindu to be a Christian.....use your logic from this..

I would love to comment against most of the points mentioned below (excerpts from Page .) But I will keep it to later time. I consider this is definitely an interesting information for all intellectuals. Please read on... - "Christianity should be considered for its historical viability. Christianity has historically rooted characters and events within its schema which are identifiable through forensic sciences like archeology and textual criticism. Hinduism certainly has a history, but its theology, mythology, and history are so often blurred together that it becomes difficult to identify where one stops and the other begins." "Hinduism has a certain flexibility and adaptability through its historical ambiguity. But, where a religion is not historical, it is that much less testable. It may not be falsifiable at that point, but neither is it verifiable." "If Adam and Eve did not exist, if Israel did not have an exodus out of Egypt, if Jonah was just an allegory...

Indian Music and Critical Thought

"I have been studying music since I was young. I played trumpet, both classical and jazz, as well as medieval and renaissance wind instruments such as the cornetto, krumhorn, and recorder. I took years classes of at the Juilliard conservatory before going to college, where I got a BA in music. Yet, I always felt there was something missing in my music education" ".... -- shouldn't I have all the critical thinking tools I needed to understand any piece of music? I went into the music library for some deeper explorations, and there, listening to Indian and Javanese musics, I sat dumbfounded, realizing, after so many years of study, just how far from having those tools I was." "Through my study of Indian music, which will surely take me the rest of my life, I am truly beginning to feel as though I understand music, one of my great loves" Understanding Indian music from a non Indian is to Introspect our values. Its like someone pointing at how valuable we ...

Infants' Intelligence....!!!

Courtesy: Yahoo!News Infants Have 'Amazing Capabilities' That Adults Lack Babies might seem a bit dim in their first six months of life, but researchers are getting smarter about what babies know, and the results are surprising. The word "infant" comes from the Latin, meaning "unable to speak," but babies are building the foundations for babbling and language before they are born, responding to muffled sounds that travel through amniotic fluid. Soon after birth, infants are keen and sophisticated generalists, capable of seeing details in the world that are visible to some other animals but invisible to adults, older children and even slightly older infants. Recently, scientists have learned the following: At a few days old, infants can pick out their native tongue from a foreign one. At 4 or 5 months, infants can lip read, matching faces on silent videos to "ee" and "ah" sounds. Infants can recognize the consonants and vowels of all langu...
