Narendra Modi's Charisma

First, listen to his speech convened by Hindustan Times (not a Sangh/BJP supporter) and initiated by none other than the hardcore sangh parivar hater Rajdeep Sardesai.

I am personally very inspired by the nature of speech Modi has delivered in this context. A Manmohan or Sonia can never talk from the heart, bundled with the true patriotism, after all, MM speeches are written by Sonia and Sonia's speeches translated to Italian from Hindi by unknown 100s.

I didn't want to be blind to whatever Modi says, so I did research on all claims he makes in the speech. Hence for a good value reading, I tried to attach links to the facts alongwith. For all the skeptics, I have made sure the source of information does not belong to Sangh Parivar.

Excerpts:"....It is also important to note that Jews have been a part of India for well over a thousand years. The most distinctive aspect of the Indian Jewish experience is the complete absence of discrimination by the host majority. Jews have lived in India without any fear of persecution, a fact that has been well appreciated by Israel. Even though the Jewish population in India is estimated to be around 6,000--following the emigration of over 25,000 to Israel between the 1950s and 1970s--the community's contributions to India remain substantive....."

The digital imaging firm, called HAL9000 after the killer computer in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey", will post the 16-17 giga pixel image on its Web site (www.haltadefinizione.com) on Saturday (Oct 27, 2007)

HAL9000 General Manager Vincenzo Mirarchi told Reuters on Thursday the reason behind the firm's decision to post the image on its Web site was to provide an innovative way to appreciate art rather than encourage speculation about its meaning.

"This will make it easier for people to see it," he said, referring to the difficulties of arranging a visit to the hall where the mural is located.]

Why are we proud of ......

...achievements of Indians outside India?

Last night I watched the news clipping on Piyush “Bobby” Jindal becoming of Governor of Louisiana, USA. His cousins and relatives were extremely happy...they danced crazily in their house in India. Everyone of them exclaimed that he makes Indians proud!!! I always wonder how these people really do that!!???

I read more of him on the internet. I find...

His article in a Catholics web issue
Piyush "Bobby" Jindal Religious lies
He being attached in a TV interview

How Indian is he? What is his lifetime contribution to India or Indians? How much does he know indepth of his own State in India as much he knows about Louisiana, accepted that he was born there. But him becoming a Governor of a State in the US makes Indians proud????

I am equally surprised at how Kalpana Chawla or Sunita Lyn Williams are anyway Indians at heart? Sunita had hardly visited India in her lifetime, Kalpana did only once or twice. We are proud of these????

I feel we are being enSlaved into the concept that anything the Americas, British or Europeans do are the ultimates. To them India doesnt even exist. To us they are the "Big Brother"s! We look up to them always. They set our standards of life, standards of educations, standards of technologies, standards of qualities....what not! Wonder what are we Indians upto? People like Lakshmi Mittal can come together and develop an entire village to what no other part of world has ever tried. In a way this threatens the Indian government to make them realize what they havent attempted so far. There are millions in the US who can come together to a great cause helping out India. There has been times during Kargil war and natural disasters in Gujrath and Orissa when Indians living outside India contributed a huge sum. India needs more than just money too.

I wish we stop admiring everything about what an Indian does in the US. Lets look at what our guys can do within India that includes me ofcourse) and give them all kinds of support.

[Oct 28, 11:30pm - Rama Iyer gave me this link to a lengthy explanation of Shashi Tharoor, on the same topic of Indians feeling proud of Bobby. You really gotto read it. I am glad I am not one of the few who think like this]

Helping the destitutes ....

I just watched this news about a noble heart in Madurai on a TV channel. Quickly I wanted to put the information over here.

He is a food provider, N. Krishnan, a graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Science, who has taken upon himself the mission of feeding abandoned people - mentally unstable ones and destitutes.

We have such people doing great service to mankind and animals, behind the scene. But services like that of Krishnan should be made known to the world simply because they awaken our sleeping minds into the realities.

Great work Krishnan :)

Into the Black Hole somewhere in India there goes .....

"India tops in remittances from migrants

WASHINGTON: With Indians at the top, migrants working in industrialised countries sent home more than $300 billion in 2006, nearly three times the $104 billion given in foreign aid to developing countries.

India with $24.5 billion took in more remittance than any other nation. It was followed by Mexico ($24.2 billion), China ($21 billion), the Philippines ($14.6 billion) and Russia ($13.7 billion), according to a new UN study." says DNA

Ok!!!! Great!! But where the hell is all these money? Locked up with individuals? RBI? Laaloo? or Sonia's family trust? or to some religion funding? arrey obviously every million would show up somewhere if it was really used for good of the country....

Filth with Flowers

Every year on the Indian Independence day (Aug 15,) the horticultural department of Karnataka organises mammoth flower and plants exhibition in Lalbagh. This year, I reluctantly went with my family as I knew it wouldnt be easy to get in and come out.

Such a lovely garden turns into dustbin in just two or three days of this show. How much ever the department and security tries to control the crowd. Its the people's mindset that goes on rampage and has absolutely no care for the nature. But ironically they all come to watch the beautiful nature!

I was more concerned with the destructions of this place and captured some of the pathetic state in the garden. There are other links I am providing here where you actually get to see the wonders of creation through other lenses.
